Maria Teresa Serra
Company President
Maria Teresa Serra has been working with children and families for over 12 years. She has been part of a non-profit organization for most of those years. She has vast experience with many different diagnoses in the mental health arena with children, adolescents, and adults. Maria graduated from Barry University in Miami Shores Florida in 2003 with honors. She was part of the Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Honors Society during the 3 years of her graduate studies.
During her experience with the non-profit organization, Maria has worked with DCF (Department of Children & Families) and children whom have been removed from their homes, conducting supervised visitation and participated as part of the court team helping reunify these families. She has also been involved with JDC (Juvenile Detention Center) and the Family Violence Program and court mandated Functional Family Therapy Program. Maria has done extensive work with teenage parents and their infants through The Teenage Parenting Program. She has worked with Bipolar Adolescents, Autistic Children, Depression, Anxiety and ADHD in children and also has worked with adults with similar problems and concerns.
Maria Teresa has volunteered through her church as part of the Prison Ministry. She volunteered at the Juvenile Detention Center which is where she found her love and fascination to work with adolescents. She was involved in the Christmas Angel Tree Project for several years and actively collected and distributed toys to children of incarcerated parents. Currently Maria volunteers with the AWANA Program working with the Children’s Ministry at her church.
Maria Teresa is a caring and dedicated part of her own family. She is constantly helping and giving of herself to others in a warm and genuine manner. Through her faith she is able to conduct and manage life struggles in a positive and strong attitude. She loves life and strives to share this at every moment of each day.
